Colossalcon East IdolFest 2025

The Colossalcon East IdolFest is a non-competitive event where our Idols get the chance to shine on our main stage and perform for all of our attendees to show off their incredible performances! So get those light sticks ready because our IdolFest is back!

Rules and Guidelines

All IdolFest participants must follow the rules below. Exceptions can be made on a case-by-case basis.

Audition Videos

You may apply with a performance of up to 8 minutes in length. This year we will be requiring each applicant to supply us with an audition video. Please provide us with as much of your desired as possible, with at least one song required for this audition. Anyone planning to perform is required to be featured in your audition video. We would prefer it if everyone in a group filmed the audition together in the same location; however, if this is not possible, please provide a compilation video of all members showcasing their performance. If you have concerns about these requirements, please contact us via email at cosplay@colossalconeast.com. Please tell us about any experience you may have with performing on stage. If applicable, feel free to provide links to past performances here.

  1. One member may register their full group. This individual will be the point of contact for the idol group for CCE.
  1. You cannot enter the Masquerade with the same performance! The Idol Fest performances should be unique to this event.
  1. Each group must prepare one full performance set. The max amount of time is 8-minute sets. One performance per group and you may only perform with one group.
  1. Every group member must be registered for Colossalcon East.
  1. Costumes and performances must be no more than PG-13. If it’s appropriate for a PG-13 movie, it’s appropriate for the competition, but please keep in mind that there will be children in the audience. If you are unsure whether your performances or audio are appropriate, please feel free to email the cosplay staff for feedback. If you are questioning the content, then perhaps it should not be in your performance.

The Cosplay Director and/or Assistant Director reserve the right to decline/disqualify your performance if the content is deemed inappropriate for the PG-13 rating.
  1. Costumes must meet the rules and guidelines of the convention. (Please see dress code)
  1. Pre-recorded audio is required. MP3 FILES ONLY FOR JUST AUDIO. If you would like to utilize our video screen, please make sure the video and audio are in one .MP4 file.
  1. If it comes on stage with you, it must leave the stage with you. Nothing dangerous or messy. Throwing objects off the stage is prohibited. Reckless behavior resulting in falling off the stage, or breaking/damaging equipment (or nearly doing so) will result in disqualification. If you break stage equipment, you buy it. Extreme physical acts may need approval from the Cosplay Director at rehearsal to ensure safety.
  1. Audio must be already edited for length and content. You will be required to submit your audio before the convention. Failure to do so will result in disqualification.
  1. No surprises! Any dangerous stunts, messy stage props, or anything that could hinder the performance experience for others will result in instant disqualification.
  1. No Show/ No Contact= Disqualification. Colossalcon East staff is available through email communication before the show. You will receive information through email before the event. If you need to drop out of the competition, please reach out to the staff so that another individual on the waitlist can have the opportunity. We ask that you respect your fellow attendees and the cosplay staff by appearing when expected.
  1. Harassment of any kind (both online and in person in regards to this event) will not be tolerated and can result in automatic disqualification.  Be it of your fellow contestants or our staff, all Colossalcons have a zero bullying and harassment policy.

Video Backgrounds

Idols may utilize our large screen for a video to help enhance their performances. This could be a video background or a photo of a location to help bring the audience into your performance. Please note that the contents of your video must also meet the PG-13 standards.

If you would like this option, please link your audio and video together in one file. We will only accept the following formats: .MP4, MOV, WMV, AVI.

If you’re using the video background, please select such on your entry form.

We are so excited to welcome you to the Colossalcon East Idol Showcase! If you have any questions, please email us at cosplay@colossalconeast.com. Best of luck with your prep and submissions and we’ll see you at the convention!

Sportsmanship In Cosplay Events

At numerous events across the country, displays of poor or unsportsmanlike behavior have been rampant. Like any competition, some will win, and others will not. At Colossalcon East, any and all displays of Poor Sportsmanship will not be tolerated.

AI-Generated Images, Video,  and Audio

Colossalcon East does not support the usage of AI-generated music, video, and images. Usage of these things for any of our cosplay contests is not permitted, and usage of said things will result in being disqualified.

If you have any questions, please email us at cosplay@colossalconeast.com. Best of luck with all of your prep and applications! We’ll see you at the convention!

Frequently Asked Questions

Q) Application? Why is it an application?

Due to the overwhelming popularity of our IdolFest event, we have decided that moving forward, we will be having an application process. This means that there will be acceptances and a waitlist. If your set is waitlisted, there is still an opportunity to perform if another set drops. A staff member will reach out to you if that is the case.

Q) I have never done an IdolFest before, and I’m a bit nervous. What do I need to do?

The biggest thing we can tell you is to just relax and have fun. Our Idol community at CCE is always incredibly supportive of each other. Practice, practice, practice!

Q) We have some changes to our submitted audio/video! Where do I send it?

We will take updates to video and audio up until August 30th at 11:59pm. We will not accept any changes after this date as all the video and audio must go to tech. Changes on-site can cause complications and could cause for your video/audio to be incorrect for the performance.

Q) Why does my audio need to be pre-recorded? I wanna sing live!

This is to help with time management and to ensure that the audio does not run over. It also allows us to ensure the quality of your audio. If you want to perform live, please let us know on your application.

Q) I know the time limit says this much time, but can I please have an additional 30 seconds?

The time limit is in place to keep the show on its time frame. Unlike in previous years, we will not be making any exceptions.

Q) What are the stage dimensions?

Our stage size is 16×32 feet. We will be having a runway attached to the stage as well. Please plan your performances accordingly.

The deadline for submissions is Friday, August 8th by 11:59pm.
